Introducing Adapted Physical Activity

Delivered by a specially-trained professional, adapted physical activity (APA) offers sporting activities and strengthening exercises adapted to the physical capacities, expectations, needs and psychological state of each patient.

APA aims to :

  • develop the patient's physical condition (muscular strength, cardio-respiratory endurance and flexibility)
  • improve balance, posture and coordination
  • stimulate cognitive abilities, reactivity and visuo-spatial information processing (perceiving and processing information)
  • rediscover the pleasure of movement, well-being and a taste for effort
  • improve emotional potential (motivation, self-confidence)

APA can be used as part of a rehabilitation program, but physical activity is an important element at all stages of the disease.

Program

The detailed program will be sent to you in due course. The day includes a meal and three discovery workshops in small groups.

Speakers: Maîtres de sport en Activité Physique Adaptée will present three possible types of workshop.

Moderator: Centre romand SEP
